Clustermanagement Musikwirtschaft
The Clustermanagement Musikwirtschaft is a project initially designed for three years and founded the 'Entrepreneurship Club' together with the MCEI and Adtelligence. It is financed by RWB-EFRE funds of the EU, by the state Baden-Württemberg and by the city of Mannheim. The Clustermanagement, which cooperates closely with the Mannheim promotion of trade and industry, is affiliated with the municipal associated company mg:mannheimer gründungszentren gmbh. After the end of the initial funding phase in September 2013, the continued existence of the Clustermanagement is supposed to be ensured by a group of sponsoring members as well as by funds of the city of Mannheim.
The Clustermanagement Musikwirtschaft serves both as a contact and coordination office for all professionals of the music industry in the region and as a communication hub between the industry on the one hand and political organizations, the city administration and other business organizations on the other hand. Apart from consulting and connecting entrepreneurs, freelancers and established companies in the context of the music business, the Clustermanagement is engaged in establishing the Mannheim region as an attractive and up-and-coming location for the music industry.
The strategic objectives of the Clustermanagement can be summarized as follows:
- To establish Mannheim and the region (inter-)nationally as an attractive and innovative location for the music industry.
- To attract companies to the region, to create jobs, to communicate open job positions and to keep professionals in the region.
- To guide start-up companies
- To initiate and extend networks as well as subject specific working groups
- To secure the continued existence of businesses and to initiate new projects
The network of the Clustermanagement consists of producers, distributors and promoters and thus covers the entire range of the musical value chain. Peripheral external suppliers and technical service providers in the context of the music industry are represented in the cluster. Furthermore, the Clustermanagement closely cooperates with one the University of Mannheim and three other institutions of higher education, one of whom (Popakademie Baden-Württemberg) specifically trains students for the music industry and has a research institute with a focus on “digital media.”
