Your help is needed! Let's create open data together to make local public transport more accessible for everyone.

In the course of the research project "OD2Guide ScaleUp", contagt GmbH is developing an app prototype for digital wayfinding. The goal is to make public transport inclusive and barrier-free.

For this purpose, we want to enter barriers such as steps or narrow places into the map material together in "Mapathon" parties. This data will later be made available to users with the app. The first Mapathon will take place in Mannheim!

If you're curious, the best thing to do is sign up directly! All you need is a smartphone. Participation is free of charge and food is provided.

About the research project

The research project "OD2Guide ScaleUp" is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV). In the project, we are testing how to digitally support people with disabilities while traveling. The aim is to develop a prototype app that displays location-based information on accessibility and orientation tips while traveling. The corresponding data is to be generated collaboratively in Mapathon events.

What is a Mapathon?

In a Mapathon, we come together to collectively capture barriers using images and satellite imagery and digitally add them to an OpenStreetMap map. The data collected in this way is then freely available to the general public. The data collection is done via our smartphones. In addition, people with and without handicaps meet here to exchange ideas and learn from each other.

Organizational

The Mapathon will take place on Friday, 11/11/2022, at RNV in Dynamostraße 19 (Megaron) in Mannheim. Details on how to get there can be found here. In view of the current Corona case numbers, you can of course wear a medical mask at the event. Besides your smartphone, you should also bring an identification document for the check-in and of course a lot of good mood! We are looking forward to seeing you!
