Have you always seen Erasmus as an undergrad thing? Not any more! In 2009 the EU launched the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) – programme. EYE supports future entrepreneurs to gain new skills in leading a startup in an international and european environment.
Since it still is not known to everyone, here some more info on concept and conditions: The programme provides a one- to six-month stay abroad with an experienced entrepreneur who serves as a host entrepreneur leading a SME in another European country. The exchange enables him to develop international contacts, get into touch with fresh ideas, acquire knowledge about other markets, discover potential cooperation opportunities or expand his business to another country.
The visiting young entrepreneur on the other hand will get first hand on info how to actually run a business (in a foreign environment) and gain a lot of everyday experience. Meanwhile he is able to improve his command of another european language, get to know another culture and learn about the characteristics of another market and its working culture.
Every individual could be considered a young entrepreneur who is in the pre-founding-stage or still within the first three years after founding. The programme will support every participant in finding a host and provide a funding from 500 € up to 1000 € per month (depending on the average living costs in the chosen country). It is open to entrepreneurs with all kinds of backgrounds.
