R3DT GmbH, a Karlsruhe-based Virtual Reality (VR) startup, receives investment from High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Germany’s largest seed investor based in Bonn. The “Industrie 4.0” startup will use this seed financing to further the software’s fields of application as well as to widen its customer base.

The young software company that was started by founding members Andreas Rüdenauer, Julien Kipp and Achim Schneider, develops and sells user-friendly standard VR software for industrial engineering purposes. Developed by the team during 2016-17, the software has been available in the market since the end of 2017. Headquartered in the technology factory of the IHK Karlsruhe, the startup now has a team of more than ten people including students.

R3DT aims to offer the most user-friendly experience available in the market when it comes to VR experiences. In fact, simplicity – as a feature – is one of the core principles the team had in mind while developing the product. Their product is able to generate a virtual prototype from a 3D CAD model with only a button in a way that even users with no expert knowledge of the technology can still make use of it. Its intuitive hand-tracking technology also negates the need for cumbersome controllers making it possible for any user – anywhere and anytime – to experience any kind of planned products, machines, workplaces or production lines on a one-to-one basis and with bare hands.

“Thanks to the involvement of HTGF, we can hire new employees to accelerate the pace in sales and to expand our head start on the market and in software development,” says Andreas Rüdenauer, the company’s Co-founder and Managing Director.

“The simplicity of R3DT’s VR tool opens up new user groups that have been reluctant to use existing solutions due to their complexity,” says Dr. Olaf Joeressen, an HTGF Investment Manager, when talking about why they believe in R3DT’s success.

With a focus on high-potential technology startups, HTGF has helped shape 500 startups since 2005 with €892.5m in total investment across three funds and an international network of partners. They have had a number of success stories in their portfolio with companies such as Mister Spex, Rigontec and 6Wunderkinder among many others.
