Go big or go home – the motto under which the startup Bruemmer Digital Ventures (BDV) GmbH from Mannheim organizes multiple Superhackathons across Germany in 2019. Usually, hackathons last about one or two days on which digital challenges set up by a company are being solved by participants in a preferably innovative and creative way. “Anyone can do that.”, thought BDV and goes one step further. With their regional Hackdays BDV brings together the who’s who of corporations in the respective region and celebrates with talents and corporations for four days.

Hackdays Germany start off with Hackdays Rhein-Neckar on February 14th to 17th in Mannheim. For this regional hackathon, the introduction as well as the final award ceremony will take place at the John Deere Forum, the hacking will be done right across the street in the Mafinex. Challenge setters are BASF SE, SAP SE, Bilfinger Digital Next GmbH (under Bilfinger SE), Heidelberg Digital Unit GmbH (a company of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG), Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH, Rhein-Neckar Löwen GmbH, John Deere GmbH & Co. KG and Mannheimer Morgen Großdruckerei und Verlag GmbH.

The challenges are as diverse as the participating corporations. While SAP is setting up a data-driven challenge in the esport department, BASF is setting the task of developing new business models and technical concepts around digital health plans. While the challenge of the digital unit of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen is in the realm of data analysis and processing, Bilfinger is proposing a smart engine problem. John Deere also recognizes the challenges of digital transformation and hence, approaches them with a smart farming challenge. At the same time, Mannheimer Morgen addresses the topic of Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa. A sporty focus will be on the challenge of Pepperl+Fuchs which – in cooperation with the DFB GmbH and the Badischer Fußballverband – deals with algorithm models for the coordination of soccer teams. Additionally, the handballers of the Rhein-Neckar Loewen direct their challenge at business pros who are up for some sports spirit and a task in the domain of user generated content. “We hope to contribute with a lot of emotions, excitement and lots of fun,” says Jennifer Kettemann, CEO of Rhein-Neckar Löwen GmbH.

According to the diverse challenges, we are looking for highly heterogenous teams of talents: from business, over design to IT, everyone who is keen on taking on the digital design- and tech-challenges of the corporations is welcome! Saying it by quoting Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hermann, executive board member and CDO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG: "We have the data, you have the talent and together we can create new digital business models to shape the future of our industry."

For all of you who can’t wait, there is a little pre-taste of Hackdays Rhein-Neckar, our teaser video: https://youtu.be/7p2PovOAnkw and https://www.facebook.com/hackdaysde/videos/258456638137748/.
