Global Entrepreneurship Summer School 2017

Bridging the subjects Organic Food, ZeroHunger and the Throwaway Society – the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School, this time on the topic "Food", is starting the application phase.

The application for this year´s Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) in September opens on February 20th, 2017. Within seven days students from everywhere in the world are invited to develop innovative and entrepreneurial solutions concerning the topic "Food". For the second time, the GESS will take place in three mega cities spread around the globe: Munich, Shanghai and Mexico City.

Munich, February 9th, 2017 – Food trends are a hot topic right now: Whether chia seeds, sea grass or insects - one food trend follows another and customer demands on the products are rising. At the same time, however, sustainability, hunger and limited resource availability are often overlooked: According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 795 million people are still suffering from hunger. Yet, our global food waste could feed three billion people every year. There have already been initial approaches to solving these global problems. The solutions, however, are still preliminary, as they usually lack innovation and the possibility of global scaling.

Our world population is growing and despite the latest technological advancements, food supply is still not guaranteed. "We must face the global "Food" problem and work together in international teams to develop innovative solutions that are scalable and sustainable," says Klaus Sailer, co-founder of the Global Entrepreneurship Summer School.

During a seven day period, interdisciplinary student teams will develop business models within the problem area "Food" which are economically viable and have a lasting positive influence on society. With the GESS, young and prospective entrepreneurs get the unique experience of achieving greater things together. Host is the Munich-based Social Entrepreneurship Akademie. Collaborating with Tongji University in Shanghai and Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, GESS will be taking place on three different continents - Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Application is open until April 17th, 2017 on www.globalsummerschool.org
